Mini-world Magazine Featured, Recently Rebuilt SW Motorsport Engined 1989 Austin Mini 1000cc (Original Black on Black Combo)

Recently featuring in MiniWorld Magazine (February 2022), she was rebuilt and upgraded and features a recently rebuilt engine by SW Motorsport producing 60bhp. When combined with her 600kg weight and rally winning handling, she is both terrific and terrifying fun. Driving beautifully, she is supplied fully serviced, professionally tuned and with 12 months MOT and no advisories. She is HPI clear and has covered 64,500 miles from new. We will expand upon her upgrades below.

1. Engine

Featuring a completely rebuilt and upgraded SW Motorsport engine (her standard 1000cc engine, bored out to 1100cc), she drives beautifully and isn’t worn. Upgraded with new 0.060” pistons, a new 266 Cam and lifters, alloy radiator, crank, balanced flywheel, carburettor etc. she drives beautifully, accelerates rapidly and produces 60bhp on dyno. Having been this week professionally tuned, her performance has been optimised.

2. Mechanical Upgrades

Her suspension has been upgraded with KYB dampers, giving better stabilisation. Her brakes have been upgraded to 7.5inch discs, upgrading her stopping power (albeit being an early model she doesn’t have a brake servo). Her exhaust as been upgraded to an RC40 which has a great roar.

3. Interior Upgrades

Her seats have been upgraded to the period style, her dash has been upgraded to a stainless steel and her steering wheel to a 60’s wooden wheel of fantastic construction, giving her a classically feel inside. She has factory optional extra opening rear windows which is a nice touch and factory optional extra rear seat belts for safety (not fitted as standard). There is a small split in her drivers seat seam and her interior headlining has (like often) seen better days at the rear.

4. Exterior Upgrades

Finished in her very rare and original black on black colour scheme and finished with many early sixties chrome features such as the Moustache grill and overriders, she stands out. Upgraded to Sportspack arches and thirteen inch wheels, she has a wider stance. The only things to note are some small Mini bubbles to the top of her drivers wing (shown in the video) and being black she might benefit from a polish, but otherwise she is in excellent condition.

5. Underneath

Underneath she is solid with recently new floors, the correct vented sills and a sports RC40 exhaust that roars.

6. Ready to Enjoy

Supplied HPI clear with 12 months MOT and no advisories and fully serviced with new classic Mini Millers Oil, Oil Filter and new NGK spark plugs as well as new silicone HT leads, she is ready to enjoy.

7. Low Mileage

Reading just 64,500 miles, she is a low mileage example. We can validate her mileage back to 2006 when she had covered just 55,000 miles. There is also an entry in 1997 at 26,000 miles.
